925 Silver Rings

Bright, light and gentle on the skin, 925 silver is the heart of every D-Carats ring.

What 925 means

The number is the proportion of pure silver, 925 parts in a thousand. The remaining 7.5 percent is usually copper, added because pure silver is too soft to hold a stone. This alloy has been the reference for fine silver in England since the Middle Ages, and it is the 925 hallmark you will find stamped inside our bands.

The white of silver

Silver reflects more light than any other metal, which gives it that bright, slightly cool white. Many of our rings are also plated in rhodium or white gold, a thin layer that makes the white even brighter and slows tarnish. Underneath, the ring is still solid 925 silver. It is the same metal whether you choose the natural finish or the plated one.

Why silver pairs so well with moissanite

A white metal lets a clear stone look whiter, while yellow gold warms it. That is why most moissanite engagement rings are set in white metal. Silver also keeps prices reasonable, so a two carat stone stays affordable. And because silver is gentle on most skin, it suits people who react to nickel in cheaper alloys.

Why silver darkens, and what to do

Silver reacts with sulfur in the air, in eggs, rubber bands and some cosmetics, and slowly takes on a darker tone. It is not damage. A polishing cloth removes it in a minute. To slow it down, store your rings in a closed pouch, away from humidity, and take them off before swimming in a chlorinated pool. The more you wear silver, the less it darkens, because the gentle rubbing keeps it clean.
